NXY Benchmark
A unitless, rules-based reference level derived from validated dollar-index and Naira-per-U.S.-Dollar observations under the applicable NXY methodology.
Methodology-derived referenceAbout Naira Index
Naira Index (NXY) is a rules-based, blockchain-native benchmark designed to measure the performance of the Nigerian Naira within the global U.S. Dollar Index environment through governed methodology, authenticated publication and auditable digital infrastructure.
One identity. Three distinct layers.
Institutional clarity requires each layer to be understood independently. The benchmark is a calculated reference, the protocol governs validation and publication, and the token is a separately valued digital asset associated with ecosystem access and participation.
A unitless, rules-based reference level derived from validated dollar-index and Naira-per-U.S.-Dollar observations under the applicable NXY methodology.
Methodology-derived referenceThe deployed oracle, validation, publication, governance and analytical architecture that records approved benchmark observations and makes protocol activity independently auditable.
On-chain operating infrastructureA fully implemented BEP-20 digital asset serving as the access and participation layer for NXY data services, licensing, oracle participation, governance and ecosystem integrations.
Market-determined digital assetWhy NXY exists
NXY was created to improve how Naira performance is observed, reproduced and incorporated into modern financial-data systems without operating a foreign-exchange market or intervening in the currency.
Apply a defined calculation framework to validated observations rather than relying on disconnected market commentary or incomparable data points.
Provide analysts, policymakers, economists, researchers and market participants with a transparent reference that can be reviewed and reconstructed.
Make benchmark observations available through structured digital infrastructure suitable for dashboards, analytical systems and independently governed applications.
Record methodology identifiers, source-set controls, publication history and authorized protocol actions in a form that can be independently inspected.
The benchmark rises when the Naira strengthens relative to the applicable dollar-index environment, all else equal, and falls when the Naira weakens.
Every NXY observation must be interpreted through its methodology version, source set, valuation time and publication classification. The current public series is classified as indicative and uses a calculated dollar reference derived from European Central Bank foreign-exchange reference rates; it is not an official ICE U.S. Dollar Index publication. The Naira input is obtained through the disclosed cNGN-per-USD oracle reference.
Review benchmark methodology ↗Institutional design discipline
NXY is organized around reproducibility, data provenance, controlled publication and explicit separation between benchmark administration and token-market activity.
Benchmark values are produced under an identified methodology rather than unpublished judgment or intervention.
Data classifications, source sets and licensing limitations are disclosed so users can assess the basis of each publication.
Accepted observations are tied to validation controls, valuation times, methodology identifiers and publication hashes.
Published records are designed to remain reviewable, including their sequence, governing parameters and correction status.
Administrative authority maintains the operating framework but does not possess an unrestricted right to manufacture benchmark levels.
The NXY token is not the benchmark itself, and its independently determined market price is not required to track the benchmark level.

NXY was launched in March 2026 by Simon Kapenda and developed as open-source, blockchain-native infrastructure for transparent Naira measurement, structured financial analysis and independently verifiable publication. The project is administered and issued by Naira Index, LLC.
Simon is also the creator of SACE Index, Namibia 30 Index, NADD, U.S. Health Index, Kenya 30 Index, and Africa Tourism Pass. These projects operate independently within their respective methodologies, legal structures and market contexts.

Nature and limits of NXY
These distinctions define the legal and economic perimeter of NXY and should be reviewed before relying on its benchmark data or interacting with its digital asset.
NXY does not issue Nigerian Naira or U.S. Dollars and does not represent central-bank money.
NXY does not operate a foreign-exchange market, execute currency trades or intervene in currency markets.
NXY does not maintain fiat reserves, accept deposits, manage client assets or provide redemption rights.
The NXY token does not represent ownership of Naira, U.S. Dollars, cNGN, foreign-exchange holdings or protocol operators.
The NXY token’s market price is independently determined and may differ materially and permanently from the benchmark level.
No benchmark publication is guaranteed to be accurate, complete, timely, uninterrupted or permanently available.
